So almost to the hour, as soon as I finished Kirby Pop, I planned my next game. I won’t give away too much, but it's another small game in the style of Suika Game - the one with the fruit.
And it is fighting me.
I’m really struggling to get GamerMaker to do what I want; I’ve clearly not asked it nicely. For those that don’t know, GameMaker is a game development program that primarily works in 2D. It uses its own coding language called GML (GameMaker Language) and is based on Python and C languages, like C++ and C#.
My issue isn’t the coding language though - what I am struggling with is problem-solving this game.
Usually, I quite enjoy the problem-solving aspect of coding. It's mathematics based, so it makes me a real nerd. But figuring out what needs to go where for the thing to work, it's the fun part.
I’m trying not to ask ChatGPT for help on this one. Although I used it as a tool for Kirby Pop, I don’t want it becoming a crutch. And if I keep using it for every game, well I won’t learn will I?
I will most likely update next when this next game goes live. When will that be?
Probably when I ask GameMaker nicely.
